Sally Hansen Color Foil: Minted Metal

Does anyone else remember the original Sally Hansen foils? I bought one way back in 2001 and have always regretted not buying more of the colors. When OPI put out their ultra chrome polish, Push and Shove, earlier this year I did a comparison post to my original SH. I loved the ultra chromes so much I was really wishing someone would put out a new line. This summer my wish came true and SH came out with a collection of foils in a ton of different colors. I ran out and bought a few of them right away and then later was lucky to be offered the chance to review a few more so I have almost all of them now. First up is one of the colors I was sent to review- Minted Metal.

Since I had one of the bottles from way back of course I couldn't help but compare the formulas. There is a slight difference, but I don't know if that's because of the age of my old bottle or just differences in the ingredients. The new ones have a tendency to pull up the polish a bit if you're not fast enough or go over the same areas too many times, but overall this polish was fairly easy to apply. It also shows ridges and imperfections in the nail, but this shows up much more on camera than it does in real life. I took the advice on the bottle and didn't use base coat which I actually loved since it saves a bit of time polishing. I did use top coat, however, and it really doesn't dull the finish at all and helps the polish last longer. I got a good solid 3-6 days of wear out of each manicure depending on how hard I was on my hands/nails that week. The finish really is as foil as you can get without using actual nail foils. There's definitely a noticeable difference between this and a regular shiny polish so that makes it well worth the splurge for me.

In my next post I'll talk stamping with the Color Foil polishes. Check back later this week to see my results.
