Sally Hansen Color Foil Purple Alloy Stamped

Sally Hansen Color Foil Purple Alloy with Stamping

I'm back with another round of stamping over Sally Hansen Color Foil polish. The base is two coats of Purple Alloy. I stamped with Bundle Monster plate BM-212 and Mundo de Unas 21- Purple. I think this Mundo de Unas shade leans a lot pink rather than being a true purple, but it still looks nice against the foil.

I hope you're enjoying the Color Foils as much as I am. I've got a few more to show you. Any requests for the next shade? I've still got pink, gold and lilac to go.

Sally Hansen Color Foil Purple Alloy

Up next in the Sally Hansen Color Foil series is Purple Alloy. This is another shade I was sent for review. Since purple is my favorite color it's not surprise that I love this one. I usually go for a darker shade, but I found this lavender to be very wearable.

As noted in my first review I went without base coat as recommended on the bottle, but I did use top coat and got a good 4-5 days of wear out of each foil manicure. I've got on two coats here. Application can be a tiny bit tricky, but nothing you can't handle if you paint your nails more than twice a year. Just work fast and be careful not to go over the same part of your nail too many times and you're good to go.

I'm still loving the way these catch the light.

Sally Hansen Color Foil Minted Metal With Stamping

My Color Foil review continues with a look into stampability. I've read this on other blogs and it holds true for me- these don't seem to be great for stamping with, but are awesome for stamping on. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't get anything to pick up with my stamper. I'm sure I'll have to try again several more times out of stubbornness, but the first attempt was a failure. My original bottle of Chrome Nail Makeup is awesome for stamping so I'm not sure what's up with these new ones.

I decided to go for a two-tone look. I don't have a ton of stamping polishes yet and this teal complemented the shade of foil the best. I stamped using Bundle Monster plate BM-212 and Mundo de Unas stamping polish #24. The pattern reminds me of foil wallpaper in the best possible way. I love how the polish shines under the stamping.

And because I can never leave well enough alone I went back several days later and added gold dots with a dotting tool. You can see a bit of tip wear but this is after about 3 days so not too bad at all for the type of polish.

Sally Hansen Color Foil: Minted Metal

Does anyone else remember the original Sally Hansen foils? I bought one way back in 2001 and have always regretted not buying more of the colors. When OPI put out their ultra chrome polish, Push and Shove, earlier this year I did a comparison post to my original SH. I loved the ultra chromes so much I was really wishing someone would put out a new line. This summer my wish came true and SH came out with a collection of foils in a ton of different colors. I ran out and bought a few of them right away and then later was lucky to be offered the chance to review a few more so I have almost all of them now. First up is one of the colors I was sent to review- Minted Metal.

Since I had one of the bottles from way back of course I couldn't help but compare the formulas. There is a slight difference, but I don't know if that's because of the age of my old bottle or just differences in the ingredients. The new ones have a tendency to pull up the polish a bit if you're not fast enough or go over the same areas too many times, but overall this polish was fairly easy to apply. It also shows ridges and imperfections in the nail, but this shows up much more on camera than it does in real life. I took the advice on the bottle and didn't use base coat which I actually loved since it saves a bit of time polishing. I did use top coat, however, and it really doesn't dull the finish at all and helps the polish last longer. I got a good solid 3-6 days of wear out of each manicure depending on how hard I was on my hands/nails that week. The finish really is as foil as you can get without using actual nail foils. There's definitely a noticeable difference between this and a regular shiny polish so that makes it well worth the splurge for me.

In my next post I'll talk stamping with the Color Foil polishes. Check back later this week to see my results.

It's Orange!

Summer is still depressingly in full force here. Fresno is on track for record breaking heat this weekend (something like 103). Meanwhile where my parents live it's snowing. I think I may need to visit them soon. I'm so over summer, but at least it gives me an excuse to wear more neons. This color isn't just orange, it's ORANGE! It's pretty much as eye searing in real life as it is in these pictures and I love it.

I started with one coat of Sinful Colors, Snow Me White so my neon would really pop. I was impressed with this white. It was my first time trying it and it's one of the best one coat whites I've used so far. After the white base I layered on two coats of Spoiled, Jail Bait. Can you believe how bright it is? Both of these are budget polishes (about $2 each when they're not on sale) with really great formulas. I love finding awesome stuff for cheap! Plus the name really makes me laugh- Jail Bait... I had to get a picture of the label to show it off.

Toesday: Coral Chevron Pedicure

After my last manicure I was so in love with this look that I created a matching version for my toes. I kept the same color palatte, but changed up the placement of the patterned nails. Stamping makes it so easy to get detailed patterns on even the tiniest toenails. Of course the day I painted my toes was the day I took the polish off my fingers so the two never got to live up to their full potential together, but it was great two hours of overlap.

What I used: NYC Tropicoral, LA Colors White stamped with Bundle Monster plate BM-201 and Mundo de Unas black stamping polish. I used gold studs that I bought from the Born Pretty store to bring in that pop of gold and accent my big toes.

Do your fingers and toes match? Mine hardly ever do.
